Students who are not currently identified
Students who are interested in being screened for GT placement in any or all of the core areas need to adhere to the following timeline:
- Parent Checklists need to be returned to the counseling office no later than 2:30 pm, December 6, 2017.
- Parent checklists for secondary service will be available in the counselors' office beginning the week of November 1, 2017.
- You can also obtain a parent checkist online from the district webpage for Gifted and Talented and Advanced Academic Studies. Please click on the link in the "home" page of this website.
- Students will be screened by subject area over the course of the spring semester during the school day on campus. Students will receive testing notices in advance.
- Notification of placement will be mailed the first week of May, 2018, to the student's home address. No placement decisions will be divulged over e-mail or by phone.
- Students who are identified for GT service in any area will begin service in the fall of 2018.
Students who are GT identified but wish to add an additional placement in a core course
- Students who are already identified for GT in any of the four core areas do not have to submit a new parent checklist. However, they must complete a Request for Additional Screening in order to be screened.
- Request for Additional Screening forms will be available in the counselors' office beginning the week of November 1, 2017.
- Request for Additional Screening forms are due back to the counselors' office no later than 2:30 pm, December 6, 2017.

Course selection for students being screened
In Junior High and High School GT service takes place in the regular classroom in the four core areas: English/Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
If your student is being screened for GT placement, please select Pre-AP courses on the course selection sheet; do not select GT.
Counselors are notified of any placement changes, and they will make the appropriate changes for the fall.
