- Furloughs
If you receive a letter of temporary exit (furlough), it is for one of three reasons:
1. Your child took a summer school course and is not currently taking a course in the designated subject area.
2. Your child did not select a GT course (social studies only and for one year only).
3. A schedule conflict does not allow your child to be enrolled in a GT-designated course.
What does this mean for next year?
Your child may continue to take GT-designated course next year without being rescreened in that content area.
During course selection, your child must select the next GT-designated course or may receive an exit notice in the spring.
- Exit Notice
If you receive a formal exit notice, your child has selected a non-GT course for that subject area when one was available OR he/she has taken two years of non-GT summer school courses.
What does this mean for next year?
Your child may not continue to take a GT-designated course next year in that content area without being rescreened.
Rescreening must occur in the year of the exit notice for your child to be eligible to receive services for the next school year.
During course selection, your child must select the Pre-AP or AP course in the content area from which he/she was exited.
